Åbo Akademis forskningsmobilitetsprogram stöder internationella forskningsbesök till och från ÅA för 1–6 månader. Ansökningsperioden pågår ännu i en vecka, fram till den 15.03.2020. Läs mer om programmet och ansök här. Fredagen den 13.3.2020 fylls vårt Åbocampus igen av studerande från andra stadiet. Den här gången är det den s.k. tvåornas dag, d.v.s. då andra årets studerande från andra stadiet kommer på besök för att få höra om våra utbildningar. Presentationer hålls i Arken, ASA-huset, Axelia 2 och Gadolinia från kl. 10.00 till kl. 14.00. I år kommer vi att ha närmare 750 studerande på besök under tvåornas dag, vilket är över 100 fler än ifjol. Läs mer om UniYH-dagen i nyheten på intranätet.

Akademiska dagen firas i Medisiina D (Kinakvarngatan 10, Åbo) kl. 18. Föreläsningen hålls i föreläsningssal Alhopuro. Efter föreläsningen serveras en lättbuffé i restaurang Flavoria. I år är Akademiska dagens program på engelska.

I Vasa ordnas en Excel grundkurs 1.4 och en fortsättningskurs 2.4. Grundkursen riktar sig till personal som ska börja använda Excel eller behöver en repetition av grunderna medan Excel fortsättningskurs riktar sig till personal som vill lära sig mera om Excel och använda programmet effektivare. För den som är van att använda Excel men vill ha tips på en effektivare användning av applikationen ordnas en Excel tips och tricks kurs 7.4 via Zoom. Utbildningsstyrelsens utbildningssamarbete i Asien ger finansiering för projekt som rör utbildningssamarbete mellan institutioner för högre utbildning i Asien, som bedöms vara särskilt viktiga för Finland. År 2020 ger programmet finansiering för samarbete mellan finska högskolor och deras asiatiska partner-högskolor från följande länder: Kina, Indien, Indonesien, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand och Vietnam. Deadline för ansökningar är 04.05.2020. För mer information se EDUFIs webbplats. I slutet av mars organiserar IT-avdelningen evenemanget “Women in Data Science (WiDS). WiDS är ett plattform för speciellt begåvade nationella och internationella kvinnor i datavetenskap för att presentera deras utmärkta arbete. Till Åbo kommer presentatörerna från bl.a. Alan Turing Institute, University College London och Booking.com. Även om samtliga talare är kvinnor, är alla, oberoende av kön eller bakgrund välkomna att delta i seminariet. I år ordnas den femte årliga minoritetskonferensen i Vasa, med fokus på utbildning och social rättvisa. Keynote-föreläsarna är Vanessa de Oliveira Andreotti, Audrey Bryan, Nancy Commins & Kara Viesca (gemensam föreläsning), Pigga Keskitalo, Mariana Souto-Manning och Greg Wiggan. I konferensen ingår även ett brett utbud konferenspresentationer och workshops. Hela programmet för konferensen hittas här. Målsättningen med konferensen är att kollektivt diskutera hur jämlikhet, inklusion och rättvisa kan främjas inom utbildning på olika nivåer. Anmäl dig här senast den 31 mars.

Caroline Pippings installation ”Nomader i tid och rum, den andra dialogen” ställs ut i Humanisticum, Biskopsgatan 13, Åbo, under tiden 16−30.3.2020.
Under 2014 började Pipping göra skulpturer i rakubränd lera. Skulpturerna bär på en berättelse men den historien berättas av betraktaren. Mera information om Caroline Pipping på webbsidan www.carolinepipping.com. Välkommen att delta i öppnandet av installationen 16.3 kl. 16.00. Konstinstallationen är tillgänglig dagtid för medarbetare och studerande vid ÅA under tiden 17–20.3 och 23–27.3. Den 25 mars kl. 16.00 ordnas i Humanisticum ett samtal kring installationen, samt förhållandet mellan konst och vetenskap. Caroline Pipping och rektor Moira von Wright deltar i samtalet, som är öppet för allmänheten.

On Friday 13th March our Turku campus will once again be filled with students from upper secondary schools and vocational schools. The March Day is focused towards those who study for their second year (and likely will finish their studies next spring). The presentations will be held in Arken, the ASA building, Axelia 2 and Gadolinia from 10:00 to 14:00. This year almost 750 students will visit us, which is over 100 more than last year. EDUFI’s Education Cooperation of Asia operations provides funding for projects concerning education cooperation between higher education institutions in Asia, deemed to be particularly important to Finland. On 26 March 2020 the Department of Information Technologies at Åbo Akademi University is organizing the event “Women in Data Science (WiDS) – Turku”. WiDS Turku is a platform for exceptionally talented national and international women data scientists to present their outstanding work. WiDS Turku is a satellite event to the main annual “Women in Data Science Conference” organized by Stanford University. WiDS Turku welcomes world-renowned speakers, both from academia and industry. Although the event speakers are solely women, we encourage everyone with all genders and backgrounds to participate in this one-day event. Registration to the event is free and open now. This year, the fifth annual minority conference is organized in Vaasa, with a focus on education and social justice. The keynote speakers are Vanessa de Oliveira Andreotti, Audrey Bryan, Nancy Commins & Kara Viesca (joint keynote), Pigga Keskitalo, Mariana Souto-Manning and Greg Wiggan. Caroline Pipping´s art installation “Nomads in time and space, the second dialogue” takes place in Humanisticum, Biskopsgatan 13, Turku 16−30 March 2020. In 2014 Pipping started making sculptures of clay, using the raku technique. The sculptures all have their own histories. But the story is created in the mind of the observer. More information at www.carolinepipping.com. Welcome to take part in the opening of the installation on 16 March at 16.00. The installation is open for co-workers and students at ÅAU during daytime, from 17–20 and 23–27 of March. On 25 March at 16.00 in Humanisticum, you can join a discussion on art and science together with the artist Caroline Pipping and Rector Moira von Wright.
